This week on Radio Civil Liberties: As New Yorkers become more aware of the danger to their civl liberties. a new coalition called the "New York Alliance Against the REAL-ID" is gathering partners and supporters from across the State. With recent forums being held across the state, the NYCLU and its partners are leading the way for New York to join some 30 other states including inpassing legislation opposing Real ID implementation. This morning we listen as officials from some of those states tell us why they've opposed REAL ID implementation. (click image for video) From the State of Maine, Maine State Senate Majority Leader, Libby Mitchell ( D-Kennebec County) explains why she opposed REAL ID implementation. Maine went on to pass a Joint Resolution she sponsored urging Congress and the President to repeal the Real ID Act of 2005.

From the State of South Carolina, South Carolina DMV Commissioner, Marcie Adams tells the a State House Committee of the South Carolina Legislature of the burdens of implementation of REAL-ID that state . South Carolina went on to pass Senate Resolution S-449 which prohibits the state from implementing the act
We hear next from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's State Senate, where Sam Rohrer (R-128th District) talks about Pennsylvania's efforts that led to the passage of their Bill prohibiting implementation of REAL ID.
In our final broadcast segment this week: We hear of the efforts from New Hampshire, where implementation of REAL ID was prohibited by unanimous votes against it in both the State House and Senate.
