This week on Radio Civil Liberties: As we build up momentum for a regional fourm on Real-ID we continue to, educate and reach out to our listeners about this controversial legislation that attempts to federalize state driver's licenses by imposing a broad array of regulations on how they are issued and verified—turning them into what are, for all practical purposes, America's first-ever national identity cards. In our first segment we heard recent comments from NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman who called REAL-ID "one of the largest threats to Democracy". The NYCLU's Advocacy Director, Udi Ofer , discussed the Real ID and how it will hold an unprecedented and easy to access personal information giving our government incredible oversight over our personal lives. Also in this segment Jim Harper of the CATO Institute talks about how the REAL-ID will standardize identification cards across the country thereby making it easier for citizens to be tracked. Finally, we hear from Gouri Sadhwani, Special Assistant to the President, SEIU Local 32BJ, talks about how REAL-ID will impact low-wage workers and undocumented workers.
In Our second segment this week, we focus on the very real and every day dangers to to our Reproductive Rights and the efforts of the New York Civil Liberties Union to promote passage of the Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act (RHAPP).For More information on how you can participate call 716.852.4033

This weeks PSA's and Music:
From the Free Speech Movement of the late 1960's, the inspirational and rousing words of Mario Savio: "There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!"
